IE Artist Spotlight: Morgan Dandy

Morgan Dandy grew up in the mountains of Southern California, where a deep love of nature and art grew within her. She achieved a degree in Art Education from Northern Arizona University. In her spare time she hiked all over the wonders of Northern Arizona with her dog Luna, gathering inspiration along the way for her paintings. After graduating, Morgan traveled all over the American West, working as a whitewater rafting guide. Winters were for traveling and trying to see as much of the world as possible and she lived in Thailand and England while visiting over 15 countries. She lived in Silverthorne, Colorado with her husband Andy and they have recently put down roots in Laguna Beach, CA.

Morgan’s perspective:
I would also like to say my greatest influence to create art came from my family who fostered my creative side and always found value in the things I created. They never told me art was an unwise career path and were often my biggest cheerleaders, believing in me when I needed it the most. Most especially was my Grandfather David who bought me my first easel and painted with me on the deck of his house. Even though it is rusted and finicky and there are better options out there, I paint on that same easel to this day. My mother Sally, who is infinitely talented in her artwork quilts, inspired my life of taking risks and her talent humbles me. My Husband Andy is an inspiring musician and his compositions have influenced much of my work, as well as his perspective on what is beautiful and interesting in the world. Lastly would be my love of travel and animals, which has pushed me across the globe and opened my eyes to awe inspiring artworks and landscapes that I could never have imagined. From the weavings of the Karen people in Northern Thailand, to standing in Goudie’s La Segrada De La Familia, the world is full of breathtaking artwork and is truly a universal language we all speak if we are only brave enough to listen.
